Fear & Love in Circus

Scroll Down

“Fear & Love in the Circus” by Nadine Johnson is a personal reflection on the process of adaptation through repetition and familiarity within circus training. The comforting sounds of the school are intertwined, serving as a heartfelt love letter to the practice and the community, reflecting life’s delicate balance between comfort and unease. The sharp clacks, the soft springs, the pulleys – these are the sounds that were initially strange and uncomfortable, yet ultimately deeply missed during the pandemic lockdown. Special thanks goes to The Circus Center in San Francisco, California, for granting permission to record and providing a space where fear and love intertwine.

Special thanks to Artistic Director Felicity Hesed and the staff at the Circus Center in San Francisco, CA, USA for allowing he space to be recorded (www.circuscenter.org).
